UFC Vegas 34 opened up with an impressive performance from LFA veteran Ramiz Brahimaj as he put Sasha Palatinikov to sleep in the opening fight of the card.

Early on in their welterweight scrap, Brahimaj took the fight to where he would have the upper hand: On the mat. On the ground, he showed off the grappling talents that got him a submission win in all nine of his career wins. He worked his way to Palatnikov’s back and looked to lock in a rear-naked choke.

The Warrior Academy fighter tried his best to hand fight and keep his opponent from synching up the hold on his neck, but he was able to hold the New Yorker at bay but for so long. With 2:28 left in the opening round, the win was locked in and Palatnikov was put to sleep to end his night.

The victory was a bounce-back for Brahimaj after suffering a technical knockout loss to Max Griffin in his promotion debut in November. He has 10 submissions in all 10 of his wins.

After winning his debut in November 2020, Palatnikov has lost back-to-back fights — both by submission — for the first time in his career.
