It seems that rarely do many days go by without some sort of social post from Diaz that draws a whole bunch of likes, shares, and intrigue. However, on this day the Californian switched things up from his recent battles on Twitter with lightweight top contender Dustin Poirier, and instead took to his Instagram to post a picture, and a provocative caption.
Nate Diaz posts another cryptic social media fight tease
“Defending in December,” Diaz wrote.
Against who, and for what title since Diaz (20-13) owns no belts in any organization, is anyone’s guess. Plus, the 36-year-old is a mysterious minimalist when it comes to his social media rhetoric so we can expect no less. Yet, there are options for the Stockton natives mystery opponent in December.
There is the aforementioned Poirier. A man Diaz has recently traded Twitter barbs with and was scheduled to face in November of 2018 before the bout fell through after Poirier needed a procedure done on his hip. “The Diamond” seems in line for a title fight with current lightweight king Charles Oliveira, however, the Louisiana native is not opposed to passing up title opportunities for big-money fights, as he did when he chose to have a trilogy bout with Conor McGregor in July, instead of pursuing the division’s championship.
There is also the possibility of a rematch with current “BMF” champion Jorge Masvidal. The pair competed for the fictional “Bad Mother F*cker” title in November of 2019, and Diaz has made it known on several occasions he would like to run that fight back. With Masvidal’s dance card currently free, and sitting well outside of welterweight title contention after a second straight loss to champion Kamaru Usman, a rematch now would make sense now.
Hopefully, the rest of the world will find out what’s at the center of Diaz’s latest cryptic social media post sooner than later.
