UFC on ESPN 27 play-by-play and live results

LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie is on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT).

UFC on ESPN 27 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

In the main event, Cory Sandhagen (14-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) takes on former bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw (16-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC). Dillashaw has been out since a January 2019 loss to Henry Cejudo, after which he was suspended for two years for a positive erythropoietin test.

Diana Belbita vs. Hannah Goldy

Round 1 – Goldy with a high kick, but Belbita comes rushing froward with aggressive punches early. Goldy circles away and looks to reset. She continues flashing out the high kick, but Belbita is answering back with stiff punches and sharp low kicks. Goldy rushes forward and into the clinch, driving the action to the fence. Belbita defends well there, and Goldy has to back away, though she lands a stiff punch as she does. Back in the center, and Belbita scores with the low kick again. She’s using long punches at range, as well. Stiff right hand lands and drops Goldy. Belbita follows to the floor with more punches but backs away. Goldy follows, but she’s still wobbly as she returns to the feet. Belbita swarming, but Goldy scores with the takedown. Wild exchange, and both women take a moment to recover on the floor. Goldy backs away with less than two minutes. Belbita swarming again, and Goldy has to clinch. Her face is bloodied as she controls from the outside. Knees traded inside. Belbita creates some space and lands a late flurry to close. Good round. MMA Junkie gives it to Belbita, 10-9.

Round 2 – Goldy again opens with the high kick, and Belbita answers with a flurry of punches. Belbita adds a low kick behind her punches. Goldy fires back with two big right hands, but Belbita walks through it and continues to pop the jab. She scores with a right hand. Goldy able to wrap the body and drives the action to the cage again. She’s looking for the trip but can’t get it. Belbita back in the center and lands from range. Her straight punches are scoring in bunches. Goldy to the clinch again but can’t seem to get anything going from the position. Knees traded inside. Belbita defending well in the clinch, staying upright, and Goldy has to back away again. Under two minutes. Back to the combinations for Belbita, adding the low kick at the end. She’s sharp on the feet. Goldy’s nose busted up. Goldy finding moments with her hands, but she gets cracked back every single time. Goldy does score with a clean high kick, but Belbita walks through it and keep firing. They end on the feet, and MMA Junkie gives it to Belbita, 10-9.

Round 3 – Goldy’s corner asking her to press, but Belbita with the volume again to open. The low kick continues to chew up Goldy’s lead leg. She scores to the body, as well. Goldy lands a big right hand. Pace remains high in the final round. Goldy scores again with the high kick, but Belbita answers back with two punches and a low kick. Belbita kicks high, as well, then continues pressing with punches. Her work rate is very high, constantly moving and findign angles. Huge right hand lands, and Goldy is hurt. She staggers back to the cage but doesn’t fall. She moves into the clinch again, but Belbita continues to show solid defense in the position. Knees traded, and Belbita working to get off the fence. Belbita working knees but almost gets her leg trapped for the takedown, so she sets it back down. Goldy breaks free with one minute left and punches as she exits. Back and forth on the feet. Goldy hoping for something, and she gets a late takedown. She moves to mount and is pounding away. Big punches and elbows to close, but it goes to the final bell. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Goldy, 10-9, but awards the fight to Belbita, 29-28. Could easily be a clean sweep.

Sijara Eubanks vs. Elise Reed

Round 1 – Eubanks rushes forward and is across the cage quickly. Reed tries to kick to keep her away, but Eubanks in tight and changes levels, immediately bringing the fight to the floor. Half-guard for Reed, but Eubanks knee cuts through and moves out to side control. She tries to isolate the arm, but Reed keeps it in tight and gets back to half-guard. Eubanks postures up and strikes as she looks to pass. She’s able to step over to mount while punching. Eubanks picking her shots and briefly turns for the armbar. Reed keeps her limbs tight, so Eubanks moves back to mount and is patiently punching and landing elbows from the dominant position. Reed bucks well and gets Eubanks off-balance but can only push her off to side control. Reed scrambles back to half-guard. Eubanks advances again to the side and then mount. Reed trying to punch off her back, but Eubanks unleashes a vicious barrage off punches from the top, and this fight is over. Big win for Eubanks.
